Q. How do I make my reservation?
A. All reservations are made by phone.
You may reach our reservation office by calling (319) 363-4629 ext. 30.
Read through our step-by-step guide, then call us to arrange your visit.
Please keep in mind that many dates and time slots fill quickly.

Q. How do I handle payment?
A. All reservations must be paid in advance. Multiple checks will not be accepted.
For your convenience, you may pay by phone with Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.
Checks being mailed must be received a minimum of 5 business days before your visit. Please mail to:

Please be sure to note confirmation numbers on your check. Purchase orders are not accepted.

Q. What if our attendance numbers change?
A. We ask that you call our reservation office one week prior to your visit to confirm your numbers. All changes must be made over the phone or in person with our registrar only. No written adjustments will be accepted. Science Station box office is not able to make adjustments and changes are not allowed upon arrival. Any additional guests not included in your reservation will be charged general admission prices.

Q. How many chaperones should I bring?
A. Science Station requires one chaperone for every ten students. We encourage you to bring more than the required amount and will allow up to two chaperones for every ten students. Chaperones are admitted free to the Science Station and pay the group-discounted rate for IMAX® tickets. Upon arrival, chaperones will receive a Visiting the Science Station guide with suggestions about how you can make the most out of your visit. Because each exhibit requires reading, we ask that chaperones assist students in understanding how to use the exhibits safely as well as what scientific principal they are learning. Chaperones must stay with their group and be actively involved with the students at all times.

Q. What are my lunch options?
A. In good weather, we suggest that groups take advantage of our outdoor space. Many groups have enjoyed the river walk and surrounding area. It is important that when you leave you take all trash with you. The dumpsters in this area are for commercial use only, and are heavily monitored; your school may be fined for unauthorized use. Science Station does offer a small indoor facility at a cost of $35. This room must be reserved in advance and a cleaning deposit is required. Because we are located in downtown Cedar Rapids, there are many lunch options available within walking distance, including a food court and city park. We would be happy to send you a list of businesses in our area at your request.

Q. Where can I park?
A. Parking can be a challenge in downtown Cedar Rapids. Please let us know if you are bringing a bus and we will send you a bus-parking map. You may use the loading zone located at the front of the IMAX entrance for drop off and pick up purposes only. All non commercial vehicles may park in the metered parking spaces or in a nearby parking ramp. Remember to allow plenty of time upon arrival to locate a parking space. All parking behind the IMAX building is permit parking only, unauthorized vehicles will be ticketed by the city approximately every half hour.

Q. How can we get the most out of our visit?
A. Identify goals for your visit and discuss them with your students and chaperones. Be clear about expectations and behaviors. Choose activities that can be worked into your curriculum. And most important, let us know how we can help you make the most of your experience. Did you know that Science Station has three full-time and several contract educators? We understand the challenges of teaching and can offer an innovative, hands-on approach to learning. We encourage you to take advantage of the classes we offer as it allows students to experience a guided lesson outside of their regular classroom.
